ASMAN MUGAMBI

Under his guidance, Jubilee Life Insurance continues to push boundaries in the pursuit of providing robust life insurance solutions, positioning itself as a leader in the East African insurance market.
Asman brings over two decades of experience in the insurance industry, an impressive tenure that spans some of Kenya’s most prominent institutions. His journey to the CEO role at Jubilee Life has been nothing short of exceptional. Before his appointment in May 2024, Asman spent three years as the General Manager for Business Development and Technical Services at ICEA Lion. There, he led the development and operations of the company’s life insurance business, a role that showcased his ability to integrate technical expertise with business growth.
Prior to this, Asman served as the General Manager of Operations at Liberty Life Kenya, where he played a critical role in streamlining processes and driving efficiency in the company’s operations. Earlier experience at UAP-Old Mutual Group had honed his skills, having held senior positions as the Head of Operations in Life and Asset Management, and later as the Head of the Actuarial Function, playing an instrumental role in the organisation’s strategic direction and operations.
Throughout his career, Asman has established himself not only as a skilled senior operative but also a much sought-after expert in finance and wealth management. His participation as a speaker and/or panellist at various insurance industry events has solidified his position as an influential financial services thought leader. One such notable appearance was on The Property Show in May 2024, where Asman shared expert advice on investment strategies and real estate, providing viewers with actionable insights to secure their financial futures. This kind of engagement, among others, highlights his commitment to educating and empowering the public on sound financial services and wealth creation practices.
At Jubilee Life, Asman’s leadership extends beyond day-to-day operations; his approach to corporate governance and strategy formulation and execution emphasises the importance of innovation and inclusion in driving insurance business success. A key proponent of digital transformation in the insurance sector, he is deeply invested in ensuring that Jubilee Life Insurance stays ahead of the curve with technological advancements that enhance both customer and ultimately consumer experience. Thus far, he has played a pivotal role in the introduction of the latest tech-driven insurance life solutions, further cementing his status as an advocate for change and modernisation.
Asman’s educational background reflects an unwavering dedication to excellence. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science from the University of Nairobi (UoN), where he graduated with First-Class Honours – an accomplishment that underscores his academic rigour and expertise. He later furthered his studies with a Master’s degree in Actuarial Management from Heriot-Watt University in Scotland. Beyond shaping his professional skills, his educational journey has provided Asman with a global perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing the insurance services sector today.
On the professional front, Asman holds several prestigious certifications, including the Fellow of Life Management Institute (FLMI), Associate of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (AIA), and a Green Belt in Six Sigma. These credentials, coupled with his industry experience, demonstrate his ongoing commitment to continuous professional development and operational excellence.
