One of Arthur’s most significant accomplishments at Old Mutual was his successful leadership of the company’s rebranding from UAP Old Mutual in 2022. More than just a change of name, this rebranding was a strategic move to consolidate the company’s strengths and unify its brand across key markets. The rebranding came with a new sense of purpose and renewed focus on delivering innovative, customer-centric solutions in insurance, investment, banking, and savings. Arthur’s leadership ensured a smooth transition, with clear communication to all stakeholders, solidifying Old Mutual’s position as a trusted provider across East Africa.
Under Arthur’s leadership, Old Mutual East Africa has strengthened its presence in key markets like Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and South Sudan. The company has also expanded its portfolio, embracing cutting-edge technologies and modern financial solutions.

Arthur is committed to Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) principles at Old Mutual East Africa. Under his leadership and guidance from the parent company in South Africa, Old Mutual East Africa has launched impactful initiatives focusing on financial inclusion and education for the communities they operate in.
In Kenya, the group has empowered over 25,000 students from 20 universities across the country and through the partnership with the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) they have introduced financial literacy courses in the curriculum to empower teachers and students. Arthur’s leadership not only enhances Old Mutual’s reputation but also reinforces its commitment to being a socially responsible corporate citizen.
Before taking over as CEO of Old Mutual East Africa, Arthur built a robust career spanning more than 25 years, primarily in the financial services sector. His experience includes leadership roles across various financial institutions, where he demonstrated a knack for leading strategic initiatives. His time at FDH Bank, Stanbic Malawi, and other notable institutions was marked by a focus on operational improvement and financial stability. Arthur’s ability to execute control improvement programs and oversee complex mergers and acquisitions made him the perfect candidate to lead Old Mutual East Africa through a period of transformation.
Arthur’s career trajectory reflects his diverse skill set, particularly in finance and leadership. He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and sociology at the University of Nairobi (UoN), providing him with a deep understanding of economic trends and societal impacts, critical to his people-centred leadership style. He further solidified his expertise by becoming a Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K). He is a Member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) and of Uganda (ICPAU), and the Association of National Accountants (ANAN) in Nigeria.
