MUCHA MULINGO
FOUNDER& LEAD CHANGEMAKER PTS AFRICA
When Mucha & the PTS Africa team step into a room, they’re not offering quick fixes – they’re co-creating a foundation for change, with the intention of meaningful transformation. The goal is a journey toward more human workplaces, where people feel seen, heard, and valued.
As the Founder and Lead Changemaker at PTS Africa, Mucha has dedicated over a decade to guiding leaders and teams through the slow, often uncomfortable – but necessary – work of transformation. At the core of her mission is a simple but powerful truth: emotions matter, and when people come to work – they can’t ‘leave them at the door.’

Mucha often shares a quote by Joshua Freedman that captures this philosophy: “People drive performance, and emotions drive people.” For Mucha, this isn’t just theory – it’s a call to action. “If we’re going to build cultures where people thrive, we must begin by understanding how they feel – and what to do about it.”
Mucha’s professional journey began in banking and finance, but a new chapter opened when she relocated to Nairobi in 2008 as a ‘traveling spouse.’ She soon took on a consultancy assignment, igniting a new sense of purpose. What began as a short-term project revealed a deeper opportunity – a gap in how organizations supported their salespeople. Inspired by this insight, she launched PTS Africa in 2010, stepping fully into the world of developing salespeople.
While exploring ways to enhance sales performance, Mucha discovered the concept of Emotional Intelligence. Reading Daniel Goleman’s work opened her eyes to a game-changing insight: that the ability to understand and manage emotions was at the heart of effective selling – and, as she would later discover, powerful leadership.

What followed was a complete reimagining of what PTS Africa could offer. No longer just about sales effectiveness, the work evolved to address a deeper organizational need: emotionally intelligent leadership and culture.
When she began her Six Seconds EQ certification, she assumed it was for her clients. “But I always say,” she shares, “I became the biggest beneficiary. My EQ journey changed me first – and that’s where the real transformation began.
“In our work at PTS Africa, we don’t just talk about skills – we talk about hearts and minds. Because you can’t change culture if you’re not willing to confront the emotional climate that shapes it.”
As a changemaker in the People and Culture space, Mucha is particularly passionate about psychological safety. She’s quick to point out that despite growing global awareness, African organizations often struggle with the unspoken taboos around vulnerability, failure, and emotional expression.
“Psychological safety isn’t a ‘nice to have’ – it’s foundational. Without it, there is no learning, no growth, no innovation,” she says. “And in many of our contexts, where hierarchy and fear have shaped workplace norms, it takes intentional work to unlearn and rebuild.”
Through its annual Mental Health Conference, tailored programs, team and leadership retreats, group & individual coaching, as well as the monthly EQ Lunch ’n Learn, and Mucha’s EQ@Work podcast, PTS Africa supports teams to have braver conversations – and empowers leaders to become more self-aware, more human, and ultimately, more effective.
The result is a growing movement: organizations that prioritize connection, clarity, and care – without sacrificing performance.
As Past President of the Organization of Women in International Trade (OWIT) Kenya and former Chair of the Gender Sector Board at KEPSA, Mucha has consistently advocated for structural inclusion and leadership pipelines for women.
“Representation matters, yes – but support systems matter more. If we don’t equip women with tools to lead resiliently, we are setting them up to fail in systems that were not built for them.”
In 2022, PTS Africa became a Six Seconds Preferred Partner – joining a global network committed to building emotionally intelligent communities. Through this partnership, Mucha has expanded her impact by growing a vetted network of industry experts trained to apply EQ in real-world contexts.

PTS supports its consultants with ongoing development, blending their sector knowledge with a proven EQ methodology. The result is client work that’s contextually relevant, practical, and transformational.
At the heart of it all is a big, hairy, audacious goal: to grow an EQ for Africa Network – that equips organizations across the continent with the EQ tools they need to lead with empathy, build resilient teams, and thrive in complexity.
While Mucha’s work is deeply professional, it is also deeply personal. Anchored by her Christian faith and belief in the God-given potential of every person, she brings a sense of purpose to every engagement.
“You can’t separate who you are from how you lead. That’s why we begin every leadership journey with self-awareness. Because when leaders heal, organizations transform.”
This commitment to healing and transformation also fuels PTS Africa’s contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals – specifically SDG 3 and SDG 8 – by promoting mental well-being and fostering workplaces that enable people to thrive while driving meaningful, sustainable performance.
This year, after the incredible 3rd instalment of the annual Mental Health Conference, PTS Africa launched an innovative Mental Health for HR Practitioners series – a two-day workshop experience designed to equip HR Managers with practical tools and strategies to champion mental health in the workplace. This is part of an unapologetic push to re-centre well-being in the People agenda.
Building on this, PTS Africa recently launched an EQ Certification HR Leaders. This 6-month program is designed to create internal HR Changemakers, embedding an EQ culture. It goes beyond traditional classroom learning by incorporating a transformational certification project, where HR leaders receive mentorship to lead meaningful change internally, earning their certification through real-world impact.
From Nairobi to Cape Town, Mucha & her team at PTS Africa are reshaping what it means to build cultures of care that scale. Her mantra? Change the way people feel at work, and you change the world.
