DIRECTOR – GROUP CORPORATE RELATIONS, EABL
With more than 20 years of experience in Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG), public policy, and communications, Eric Kiniti has been at the forefront of initiatives that have positively impacted businesses and communities alike.
His professional journey began in earnest at British American Tobacco (BAT) in 2004, where he honed his skills in communications, stakeholder engagement, public affairs, and corporate strategy. During his tenure at BAT, he was instrumental in crafting policies and programmes that balanced corporate goals with societal needs, setting the stage for his future endeavours in sustainability.
In 2011, Eric joined East African Breweries PLC (EABL), bringing with him a wealth of experience and a passion for driving impactful change. His ability to align business objectives with societal expectations quickly became evident, earning him roles of increasing responsibility. By 2016, he was appointed Group Corporate Relations Director, a position that has seen him play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s corporate relations strategy across East Africa.
As the Group Corporate Relations Director, Eric oversees a portfolio that spans ESG initiatives, stakeholder engagement, regulatory compliance, and corporate communications. His leadership has been instrumental in fostering a culture of transparency and sustainability at EABL, ensuring that the company remains a trusted partner in the communities it serves. Under his stewardship, EABL has launched several impactful programmes focused on environmental sustainability like its Biomass Steam Plants, water conservation, community development including commercializing sorghum farming, and responsible business practices such as ‘Project Rudisha’, the company’s returnable spirits bottles programme and responsible drinking.

A cornerstone of his success has been his ability to navigate complex regulatory environments while building strong relationships with stakeholders, including governments, industry players, and local communities. This skill has not only ensured EABL’s continued growth and compliance but has also positioned the company as a thought leader in the region’s business landscape.
Known for his transparency, empathy, and integrity, he has cultivated trust among stakeholders across the region. His leadership philosophy prioritizes genuine connections and long-term impact, focusing on creating shared value for the business and the communities it serves. He is also keen on growing people and has played a pivotal role for growing talent with the Diageo business and in corporate East Africa.
Eric’s influence extends beyond his role at EABL. He serves as a board member of Uganda Breweries (UBL) and the Tourism Regulatory Authority (TRA), where his insights and expertise contribute to the strategic direction of these organizations. His role on these boards highlights his dedication to fostering growth and innovation across various sectors.

Additionally, Eric is a proud member of the Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK), a member organisation that underscores his commitment to upholding excellence and ethics in communication and public relations. Through his involvement, he continues to advocate for best practices in corporate communication and stakeholder engagement.
A firm believer in lifelong learning, Eric has cultivated a rich academic and professional development portfolio. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from Kenyatta University, an educational foundation that has been instrumental in shaping his analytical and strategic thinking skills.
Throughout his career, he has pursued several prestigious leadership development programs, reflecting his commitment to staying ahead in a competitive and evolving corporate environment. Some of the programs include the Leadership Development Programme (LDP) at the Gordon Institute of Business (GIBS) in South Africa, the Advanced Management Programme (AMP) at Strathmore Business School, the Oxford Leading Sustainable Corporations Programme at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford among many others.

When he is not driving corporate transformation, Eric finds joy in the great outdoors. An avid traveller and hiker, he embraces these hobbies as a way to recharge, explore new perspectives, and connect with nature. His travels have taken him across diverse landscapes, enriching his worldview and inspiring his leadership approach.
Hiking, for Eric, is more than a pastime – it is a metaphor for leadership. The discipline, endurance, and clarity required on the trail mirror the qualities needed to navigate the peaks and valleys of corporate life.
Looking ahead to 2025, Eric stands out as a leader to watch in the C-suite. His strategic vision, coupled with his ability to balance corporate success with societal impact, positions him as a trailblazer in the field of corporate relations.
In an era where businesses are increasingly called upon to address global challenges, Eric exemplifies the type of leadership that drives meaningful change. His journey serves as an inspiration to aspiring leaders and a reminder of the power of purpose-driven leadership in shaping a better future.
As he continues to lead with integrity and innovation, Eric is undoubtedly a name to watch in the years ahead – a beacon of excellence in corporate leadership.
