JOYCE KIBE
HEAD OF CORPORATE AFFAIRS BRAND AND MARKETING – STANDARD CHARTERED KENYA & AFRICA
In an era where financial services are judged as much by their purpose as their profits, Joyce Kibe has built a 25-year career proving that the right story can move markets, institutions and communities. As Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing for Standard Chartered Kenya and Africa, she has turned storytelling into a strategic lever that protects reputation, unlocks growth and amplifies impact across 25 markets.

Joyce leads CABM strategies at the intersection of CEO agenda, client ambition and societal expectation. Under her leadership, Standard Chartered Kenya and Africa have secured 51 awards in Kenya and 105 across Africa, with Africa CABM delivering a record 88 external awards in 2025 alone significantly elevating the franchise’s visibility with clients, regulators and the public. She has orchestrated end-to-end partnership strategies for flagships such as the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon, with over 30,700 participants, and Africa thought leadership forums, ensuring every sponsorship advances reputation while delivering hard commercial KPIs. She also led launch communications for strategic projects across Africa, aligning Group, business and markets teams behind a unified narrative that landed strategic change with no reputational issues.

Her work embeds purpose in ways that are both human and measurable. Joyce reactivated the Kip Keino Foundation partnership and deepened collaboration with the SME Foundation, equipping over 550 athletes with financial literacy and long-term security tools. She has led Standard Chartered’s Women in Tech programme, designing a bootcamp that helps women founders sharpen their storytelling, refine their business cases and secure interest-free funding to scale. For younger talent, she reignited the Learn, Earn and Grow programme, giving university students exposure to the future of work, leadership pathways and real-life success stories. A champion of sustainability, Joyce led the launch of Standard Chartered Kenya’s first sustainability impact report and has since driven three editions, building a consistent, data-driven narrative on the bank’s ESG commitments. She convened cross-bank stakeholders to deliver the institution’s first carbon-dated report, sharpening internal and external awareness of the path to net-zero and positioning the bank as a credible regional voice on climate.
In parallel, she has transformed internal communications, driving real-time, strategic information flows that have lifted engagement and Net Promoter Scores.

Joyce’s impact is grounded in a commercial track record that spans multiple industries. At East Africa Breweries (Diageo), she led a GBP 12 million innovations budget, launched eight new brands across three markets in a single year and doubled revenue in just six months. As Chief Marketing Officer at SportPesa, she directed a GBP 12 million retail budget across six countries, launched the SportPesa Super Cup and delivered the Everton in Tanzania campaign, which won Best Pan African Campaign at the Sports International Awards in South Africa. Her leadership has been recognised through honours including the EABL Warrior Award for impactful leadership, as well as Digital Media Agency, Best Innovation Launch and Best Sports Campaign awards. Joyce also serves on the British Chamber of Commerce Board, where her strategic contributions have earned chamber accolades, and she has been named among top women leaders in communications cementing her influence as a voice shaping the narrative of African business today.
Going forward, Joyce Kibe is a storyteller to watch in 2026.
