Arthur Oginga serves as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Old Mutual East Africa. He is an experienced, results-driven financial executive with a track record of over 25 years taking on progressively larger and more complex roles.

Arthur holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Economics and Sociology from the University of Nairobi (UoN), and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K).

He is a Member of several professional bodies, including Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda, and Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN).

Arthur has had extensive experience in financial services, particularly in banking, insurance, asset management, and stockbroking, across various African geographies. His leadership experience spans both corporate centres, notably in Kenya and South Africa, as well as leading core operational business units.

Arthur has adeptly held finance leadership positions at the Chief Financial Officer (CFO)/Regional Finance Director (FD) level for over 15 years, and has taken on key continental leadership roles at Old Mutual. He has played key leadership roles in debt and capital raising, and balance sheet restructures. Furthermore, he has effectively reviewed and executed mergers and acquisitions opportunities, and led post acquisition business integrations. Distinctly, he has guided successful business and functional turnaround initiatives in diverse markets. Arthur has been instrumental in implementing enterprise-wide control improvement programmes and core banking system changes.

As a leader, Arthur’s strengths lie in setting strategic direction and ensuring effective execution through an outcomes-based approach, leading with highly engaged teams.  He is culturally agile and his leadership is characterised by forward-thinking.

What was once known as UAP Old Mutual has evolved into Old Mutual East Africa. This entity comprises Old Mutual Holdings PLC, formerly UAP Holdings PLC, along with its associated subsidiaries. These encompass Old Mutual General Insurance Kenya and Old Mutual Life Assurance Kenya. Additionally, the Group includes Old Mutual East Africa Holdings, previously Old Mutual Holdings, and its respective subsidiaries. This array features Old Mutual Life Assurance, functioning as a closed fund, Old Mutual Investment, and Faulu Microfinance Bank.

The roots of Old Mutual East Africa trace back to 2015, originating from the acquisition of a controlling interest in Faulu Microfinance Bank in 2014 and the subsequent acquisition of Old Mutual Holdings in 2015 by Old Mutual East Africa Holdings.

The Group operates through a comprehensive financial services business model, wielding its influence as a leading entity in East Africa. Its diverse offerings encompass insurance, investment, banking, and savings solutions. The Group’s rebranding from UAP Old Mutual Group transpired on May 17, 2022.
