The story of corporate foundations in Kenya is increasingly becoming one of measurable impact rather than charitable giving alone. Safaricom Foundation and M-PESA Foundation remain particularly influential due to their extensive investments across health, education, economic empowerment, water, humanitarian response, and environmental initiatives. Equity Group Foundation and KCB Foundation continue to dominate youth empowerment, scholarships, entrepreneurship, and financial inclusion programmes.
For instance, no corporate foundation in Kenya matches Safaricom Foundation’s combination of longevity, county-wide presence, strategic partnerships, and beneficiary reach. Operating across all 47 counties, it remains the benchmark for corporate philanthropy in Kenya.
M-PESA Foundation has distinguished itself through large-scale capital projects, especially in health infrastructure, maternal care, education, and integrated community development. Its long-term approach sets it apart.

Best Corporate Foundation in Governance Award is I&M Foundation. The best story and hence, the Editor’s Verdict is Standard Chartered Bank Foundation.
