Now in Mauritius on secondment as Digital Marketing Consultant at CIM Finance, Marilene works on digital strategy for MoPay, a zero-interest BNPL product. When she joined in May 2025, monthly volumes averaged 200,000 rupees. By December, they had crossed the 1 million mark.
At SBM Bank Kenya, a subsidiary of SBM Group, Magdalene is responsible for shaping and delivering communications strategies that support both business performance and long-term brand equity. Kevin’s most defining moment was during the transition of this giant motor vehicle manufacturer in East and Central Africa. While serving as the Marketing Manager for General Motors East Africa, he had to ensure a seamless support and transition during the rebranding of the company to Isuzu East Africa.
His leadership philosophy emphasizes diversity, inclusion, and values-based decision-making. Under his guidance, women now hold over 36 percent of leadership positions and represent 54 percent of the workforce in the Kenyan business. Employee volunteering, mentorship, and community engagement have become integral to the employee experience at Standard Chartered.
In the gulf, I learned how global brands maintain consistency, professionalism while respecting local nuance; a lesson that remains central to my work today. Kenyan customers are sophisticated and demanding. African travellers are discerning. They expect authenticity. They expect performance. And increasingly, they expect purpose.

Her approach began with simplicity. Insurance language is notoriously dense, and in a market where penetration remains below 3%, jargon becomes an obstacle rather than a differentiator. Diane championed clearer communication, simpler products, and authentic storytelling anchored on human impact rather than technical features.
Under her leadership, Standard Chartered Kenya and Africa have secured 51 awards in Kenya and 105 across Africa, with Africa CABM delivering a record 88 external awards in 2025 alone significantly elevating the franchise’s visibility with clients, regulators and the public. She has orchestrated end-to-end partnership strategies for flagships such as the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon, with over 30,700 participants, and Africa thought leadership forums, ensuring every sponsorship advances reputation while delivering hard commercial KPIs.
