Determined to build credibility in a new field, Wanjiru pursued a Higher National Diploma in HR Management from IHRM, followed by an Executive MBA, and later the Senior Management Leadership Program (SMLP) at Strathmore Business School in partnership with IESE. From her early days as an HR Assistant at KCB to becoming the cultural architect of one of East Africa’s largest beverage companies before her very recent move to Safaricom PLC, Kamal’s career is proof that ambition, inclusivity, and an appetite for growth can transform both individuals and organisations.
As a changemaker in the People and Culture space, Mucha is particularly passionate about psychological safety. She’s quick to point out that despite growing global awareness, African organizations often struggle with the unspoken taboos around vulnerability, failure, and emotional expression.
Her approach to capacity building is grounded in the belief that institutions flourish when their people are empowered to grow, innovate, and lead. She sees human resources not merely as an administrative function, but as a strategic partner in creating enriched, inclusive work environments through thoughtful talent management and a strong culture of belonging and respect.
In 2024, she won The HR Trend Setter of the Year and through her leadership, Britam Holdings Talent Strategy, the 2nd Runners up Talent Strategy of the Year. She has been nominated as a Talent Leader of the Year and her team nominated as the Talent Acquisition team of the Year by HRO Today.
